Spring Is Back!

Last Weekend:
This last weekend I took a trip back home to Wausau, Wisconsin and was fairly busy throughout. Because of this, I have minimal weather observations to report from the past weekend. I can, however, conclude that my predictions from last Thursday stating that temperatures would continue to increase and conditions would improve were accurate. As pressure increased and the jet stream shifted, no longer keeping Wisconsin in a trough of cold continental polar air, conditions change, which they in fact did. Wisconsin moved out a trough and into a high pressure ridge creating means for beautiful conditions this last weekend.

Monday:

Temperature: 59
Real Feel: 59
Wind: NNW 9 mph
Precipitation: 0%
Humidity: 33%

Conditions today in Eau Claire have maintained similar conditions from this past weekend. The skies are primarily clear, with minimal cirrus clouds, because of the high pressure we are sill experiencing. In addition to the clear skies caused by the high pressure, conditions are also considerably calm. Minimal north west winds are flowing counterclockwise out of the high pressure towards the west affecting Eau Claire. Despite the north west winds, temperatures are fairly pleasant at about 60 degrees and will continue to increase to about 70 throughout the day. With respect to the high pressure and north west wind direction, precipitation is unlikely for today.

The meridional jet stream flow and high pressure is providing means for consistent warm sunny conditions in Eau Claire for the next couple days. I expect as we experience the effects of a high pressure ridge temperatures will remain consistently calm, clear, and warm at around 70 degrees. Hopefully, the cold front towards the west will die out before getting a chance to pass over Eau Claire. When taking into consideration the predicted forecast and jet stream flow, it is likely that we will not experience the negative impacts of the western cold front.
