I was anticipating yet another cold for today, and I was unfortunately correct about that. I predicted temperatures to stay in the negatives as long as north winds brought down polar continental air. In addition to the north air creating negative temperatures wind chills have made things feel even worse. Although conditions were not nearly as chilly as yesterday, it was still significantly cold!

Not only did the northern winds from yesterday lasting into early this afternoon bring down that cold air, the high pressure that was in effect throughout today was also to blame. Not only did the high pressure bring cold temperatures, but it also brought clear blue skies and little to no chance of precipitation. However, winds have died down and changed directions, now coming from the south. This is hopeful considering the warmer temperatures it will bring.

As the wind is beginning to shift it can be expected that we will receive some warmer temperatures. The southern winds will hopefully bring in some tropical air bringing the temperatures up a few degrees. With the increase of temperatures we can also expect to have an increase in precipitation. Despite this increase in precipitation, I don't expect to receive much snow considering that lack of water vapor that is present in the air.
